PANE IN THE GLASS PRODUCTIONS

 SIMPLER TIMES

Hopscotch was the game to play
On the old school grounds.
Toss the heel, and hop along,
Skipping squares in leaps and bounds.

Wearing shoe skates on my feet,
The key around my neck.
Off I’d go to glide along,
Until, alas, I had a wreck.

My bicycle was never far
From the backyard gate.
My first wheels would always take me
To the house of my playmate.

Barbie dolls had just come out,
And we would spend the day
Changing clothes and styling hair.
There was always time for play.

When I was ten, my life was simple,
Playing jacks and skipping rope.
All my friends were on the street,
And no one even heard of dope.

Now children must be careful,
Everywhere they chose to go.
'Cause someone’s seeking to destroy them.
No’s a word they have to know.
